Saturday, Division 8 Round 3 2017 Playoffs Recap, 2 cruise & West Iron pulls off upset
Updated Brackets and Semi-Final Locations
Region 1:
West Iron upset Frankfort in a snow packed Regional final in the Upper Peninsula. Austin Persson had 150 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns for the Wykons who won their first Regional title since 1977 and first Regionals in a 5 week state championship.
Region 2:
Josh Kuligowski had 3 rushing touchdowns and an interception. Senior QB Tate Hausbeck stayed hot with 2 rushing touchdowns and 2 passing touchdowns in 54-34 win over Lincoln Alcona.
Region 3:
Climax-Scotts and Mendon expected nothing the best from one another and that was the case as Mendon held on to win 14-6 after upsetting Muskegon Catholic Central last week. Wyatt Cool and Austin Rensi scored touchdowns for Mendon in the 1st half.
Region 4:
Ottawa Lake Whiteford didn't have a let down game vs. Everest despite knowing that they would likely be playing Mendon in the next round. Logan Murphy ran for just under 200 yards and had 2 touchdowns, while him and his Bobcats added over 530 yards of offense. Whiteford won 60-20.
