Petoskey dominates Traverse City Central in BNC clinching game
Petoskey knew one thing for a fact going into Thursday nights showdown at Traverse City Central.
A win and they clinched a share of the Big North Conference.
The Northmen gave the Trojans no hope in this game blowing them out 86-60 on their home court.
The game started with both teams scoring at will as Seth Mann was feeling it scoring 14 of his 24 points including four three pointers in the first quarter as the Northmen led 33-20 after one.
The second saw more of the same as the Northmen kept adding on to their lead as Senior Northwood Commit Danny Kolp got going as the Northmen took a commanding 52-32 lead into the half.
The second half started out no different as the senior led starting five from Petoskey picked up another key contributor in Jake Lee who scored eight points in the quarter to squander any chance of a Trojan comeback as the Northmen went into the fourth quarter with a 72-47 lead.
Most of the fourth was played by reserve players on both teams as Petoskey sealed the deal as they won the Big North Conference again a year removed from when they won it last in 2015-2016.
With Cadillac falling to Traverse City West in overtime last night the Northmen won the conference crown outright.
Petoskey had nine players get into the scoring which was led by Seth Mann with 24. Traverse City Central was led by Ryan Frost with 16 points.
Petoskey (15-2) returns to action Tuesday as they travel north over the bridge to take on Sault Area. Traverse City Central (11-6) looks to move on from this game as they make the short trip across town to take on rival Traverse City West next Friday. These two teams will meet again in the first game of districts at Gaylord High School on March 5th at 7:30 p.m.
