Game and Prospects Recap from Bishop Foley and Pershing (Story)
Bishop Foley advanced to 2-0 on the year after their 2nd straight win vs. a PSL opponent. Foley put up some early points with two pick-six's and Pershing was unable to overcome the early deficit.
We'll break down top performances below:
Bishop Foley:
2023 RB/CB/KR Jackson Zeiter provided a big catch on their first play from scrimmage and had some nice runs including a nice touchdown run where he got to the edge and outran a few defenders. He had some nice plays defensively as well.
2022 MLB James Braswell was in on many tackles around the line of scrimmage and some runs that Pershing ran to the outside.
2022 QB/CB Dylan Gough started off the game with a nice throw and overall had a good game with a few nice reads and throws. Defensively made some tackles in space and defended against some jump balls.
2023 S/WR Gus Toppi had a really solid game, with several tackles in space and other defensive coverage. Reacted well from the Safety position to plays and contributed offensively as well.
2023 OT Nate Brewer did well in blocking an aggressive and pretty fast Pershing DE/OLB's. 6'2 255 so maybe will move to an interior lineman for college.
2023 WR/CB Angelo Costanza had an interception returned for a touchdown and was in some tackles vs. a pretty run-heavy offense of Pershing.
2023 WR/CB Lorenzo Martinez had a nice read and break on his interception, pick six later in the game. Also caught a nice pass on offense with a broken tackle and nearly scoring down the sideline.
2022 OC Grant GutiƩrrez had good snaps throughout the game and was able to contain a really stout defensive front of Pershing.
Pershing:
2022 CB/WR Anias Walker-Reees had 2 interceptions for Pershing and was a physical player who made some other good defensive plays. Also made a tremendous catch on offense on the sideline.
2022 RB Fred Ealy had some really good plays for the Doughboys on Thursday, his change of speed really caused issues for Bishop Foley's defense. He was also able to make defenders miss in space and broke several tackles.
2022 OLB/WR Jayden Cunningham had several big plays throughout the game. A big-bodied player who has a quick burst. Very raw prospect.
