Division 5 Predictions for Round 2 / Overview
Division 5 Round 2 Overview: A few upsets the previous week and a near upset should bring out the best in teams for District Finals.
Region 1:
District 1 - Menominee at Kingsford: Menominee has been underachieving and Kingsford has taken advantage of that with a week 8, 42-21 win over the normally dominant Maroons.
Prediction: Menominee 21-19
District 2 - Clare at Reed City: Both have high powered offenses and great coaching on defense to make this a close affair.
Prediction: Reed City: 35-29
Region 2:
District 1 - Grant at Oakridge: Someone thought we were crazy earlier this year for having Grant ranked around Oakridge. Guess we'll see what happens when they play.
Prediction: Oakridge 28-16
District 2 - Carrollton at Swan Valley: This will be a week 3 rematch that Swan Valley won 18-14. Both had strong playoff wins to setup a nice District Final.
Prediction: Swan Valley 19-15
Region 3:
District 1 - Kalamazoo United at West Catholic: If you like to see QB's take control of a game, this game is for you.
Prediction: West Catholic 56-45
District 2 - Lansing Catholic at Portland: Portland won their week 5 meeting 35-6 as these teams are rivals in the CAAC White. Lansing Catholic a few weeks later was upset by Country Day, but dished out an upset this past week over Olivet.
Prediction: Portland 35-28
Region 4:
District 1 - Marine City at Frankenmuth: Frankenmuth escaped their Round 1 game vs. a tough Almont squad, so it will be interesting to see what the Mariners can do as they're a better team than Almont.
Prediction: Frankenmuth 14-10
District 2 - Ida at Algonac: Ida has had a strong season with some tough losses along the way while Algonac has won 9 straight since dropping their opener vs. Marine City. The Muskrats would love a rematch with potentially Marine City next week.
Prediction: Algonac 27-22
