Cranbrook stumbles on the road; drops game to Greenhills 62-44.
The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes fell short in a road game with the Ann Arbor Greenhills Gryphons 62-44 yesterday. The loss drops Cranbrook to 1-5 on the season, with Greenhills moving to 5-0.
Junior John Kersh had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, with Senior Shane Wittenberg adding 10 points the effort.
Senior Finn Klein led the Gryphons with 25 points, while Senior Trevor Finnegan added 18 points in the victory.
Greenhills held on to a 29-28 lead at the half in the CHSL Intersectional I matchup, with Cranbrook building momentum in the second quarter.
That momentum dissipated after half time, with Gryphons defense holding the Cranes to a 16-point second half.
Greenhills would use its transition points to outscore Cranbrook and seal the victory.
The Cranes move on to host Marine City Cardinal Mooney in CHSL prep action on Friday.
